The Tremedous Surge of Mobile Video Game Playing
On the go has seen some gigantic growth in the last few years. It was once a segment focused on pre-teens, or people that were so addicted to video games that they had to take them everywhere. But that’s not the scene anymore—at least not for everyone. Presently, portable video games are far more widespread, and they are accessable in many unique consoles.
It all commenced with the Nintendo Game Boy. The Game Boy provided a collection of games on a small screen, with often times indecipherable graphics and motion. But, it was contagious, particularly with kids and teens. Since then the niche of mobile gaming has ballooned immensely.
Nintendo themselves were one of the companies to revitalize the niche. The Nintendo DS portable platform is a very engaging device. Players can press on the LCD and move the device to negotiate various actions and game movements. This interactive experience made portable video consoles fun for people who normally would not have cared. It also allowed other games that wouldn’t otherwise be categorized as video games to transfer over to the video game niche.
The PSP consoles have also magnified mobile video game play. The benefits of the PSP is that you get fantastically high resolution graphics and a great picture, with popular video game titles. Even though it’s small, it provides a quality gaming experience. This is for the player that really wants to take his gaming on the road, not just for a part time gamer trying to burn some time or try something out. With the PSP you can play many of your best titles and experience them with surprisingly striking picture resolution and game play.
Also, the other segment that portable gaming has evolved of cellular phones. As mobilephones have become more commonplace, many come equipped with small games. Users are able to download bigger, more robust games from the net to their phone. And now, with the iPhone and other similar, multifunctionalphones, people have an even expansive range of options. Like with the Nintendo DS, the iPhone allows gamers to get interactive with the game, moving the LCD to control the action or touching the screen to manipulate other things.
It appears like it’s a far distance from those tacky graphics on the Game Boy. And certainly, it really is a huge evolution from that. But that’s the evolution of the video game niche and the world of video games itself. The realm of portable gaming is just another niche where players have enjoyed tremendously increased enjoyment.
